What is MyFavoriteInn.com?

MyFavoriteInn.com is a free listing website that allows guests to book directly with independent inns with no third party commissions, giving inns control of the guest experience from start to finish. The site also allows – and encourages – guests to share their experiences, explore travel articles and connect with other travelers, friends and family.

The website was born out of the frustration of innkeepers, tired of middlemen trying to insert themselves into the transaction and taking high commissions or fees. While that model may work for the large chains, it makes it nearly impossible for small, independent inns to compete.

The website is currently run by volunteers, with the hosting costs donated. Standard listings are renewed automatically monthly and are free indefinitely. 


How Do I Add My Listing?

  • From any page on MyFavoriteInn.com, click on “Add Listing” in the top Menu.
  • Select your preferred plan and click on “Continue.” You will be taken to the “Add Your Listing” form. We strongly recommend turning on “Fill-O-Bot.” This will automatically grab information from Google Maps as you type, to ensure your business information is presented consistently. This increases your SEO ranking when guests search for you.
  • Fill in the requested information on the form; Property Business Name, Tagline, City, Full Address, Phone Number, and Direct Booking Link.
  • Select whichever Lodging Types apply to your business. You can have more than one
  • Check off any appropriate Affiliations and Accolades.
  • Type in a description of your business. Be sure to delete “Detail description about your listing” in the form field. Make your description compelling for guests, but not so overloaded with detail that guests won’t want to read it.
  • Add your social media info and include a link to your Business Video, if you have one.
  • Upload Images. You may have 5, 10 or an unlimited number of images depending on the plan you chose. You may submit JPG, GIF and PNG files with a maximum size of 5MB.
  • Upload a Featured Image. If your Featured Image is also one of the images you already uploaded, upload it again here.
  • If you’re a new user, enter your email address to sign up and be notified when your listing is approved.
  • Click on the green “Save & Preview” button to Submit and see a preview of your listing page.
  • If everything looks good, click on the “Publish” button. You can always edit your listing at any time after it is live on the website.


  • When Does My Listing “Go Live”? 

    After you hit “Publish,” your listing will be in a “Pending” status. MyFavoriteInn.com staff will review your listing to verify it, and change its status to “Active.” This may take up to 3 days. When this happens you’ll receive a welcome message from us and your listing will appear online.


    How Do I Update and Manage My Listing? 

    Once your listing is live, you’ll be able to make changes to it whenever you want. You may regularly manage your listing to ensure your guests receive the most up to date and accurate information. You may update your listing  as often as necessary.
    To manage your listing:
  • Hover over the person/business circle logo icon on the MyFavoriteInn.com home page in the top right.
  • Select “Dashboard” from the drop-down menu.
  • Select “Listings” from the menu.
  • Click on the Listing you would like to update.
  • When the page loads, select the blue “Edit” icon in the bottom right corner.
  • Make the necessary updates and click the green “Update & Preview” button in the bottom right corner. 


    How do I Upload and Manage Photos?

  • Hover over the person/business logo icon on the MyFavoriteInn.com home page.
  • Select “Dashboard” from the drop-down menu.
  • Select “Listings” from the menu.
  • Select the listing you would like to update and select the blue “Edit” icon in the bottom right corner.
  • Scroll to the “Images” section.
  • Either drag and drop selected files into the highlighted blue “Drop files here” section or select “Browse Files”. Files may not exceed 5MB (jpg, gif, png only)
  • Click on the green “Update & Preview” button in the bottom right corner. Remember, changes to listings can take up to an hour to update while our system optimizers run. If you don’t see the change right away, come back a little later and check.


    How Do I Change the Featured Image?

    (The featured image should be one of the gallery photos uploaded with your listing. If you didn’t select one when the listing was made or need to update it: )
  • Hover over the person/business logo icon on the MyFavoriteInn.com home page.
  • Select “Dashboard” from the drop-down menu.
  • Select “Listings” from the menu.
  • Select the listing you would like to update and select the blue “Edit” icon in the bottom right corner.
  • Scroll to the “Images” section.
  • If you haven’t already added the selected picture into the image gallery, do so by dropping the file into the “Drop Files Here” section or select “Browse Files” to add it manually.
  • Select “Change Featured Image” This opens your saved Gallery.
  • Select the desired photo, make sure it has a check mark and hit “Save.”
  • Click on the green “Update & Preview” button in the bottom right corner. Remember, changes to listings can take up to an hour to update while our system optimizers run. If you don’t see the change right away, come back a little later and check.


    What are the Different Listing Types and Featured Ads?

    MyFavoriteInn.com is a website run by volunteers with our hosting costs paid for by donations. Our goal is to make the listing process a little simpler and a lot less burdensome. That’s why a Standard Listing is free for life and renews automatically. We also offer two other plans that are paid either monthly or yearly, and are available through your Dashboard:

  • Our Enhanced listing includes more images, menus, and the ability to build deals and discounts into your listing.
  • Our Premium Listing has unlimited images, YouTube video pop-ups, taglines, event showcases, the ability to hide competitor ads, and more. 

    You can upgrade or downgrade your plan at any time and you will always have the option of reverting to the Free For Life plan. All plans are free through December 31, 2020. You will never be charged without your permission.

    Owners can also pay for Featured Ads with their listings. These ads will be shown first in searches, on the homepage and in the side columns throughout the site. The cost of these ads is $0.50 per day/ per ad type for however long you’d like to run the ad. You can access, purchase, and set up these ads through the Dashboard. The cost of the upgraded plans and ads goes directly back into the MyFavoriteInn.com community (
    a cooperative effort among innkeepers to take back their businesses, own the guest experience, and lower their costs of marketing) helping support the cost of hosting images, bandwidth and security for the site.
